What is the enrollment process?

All applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. If we are currently full, the application will be dated and placed on a waiting list.

How many children does David’s Stars enroll?

At our Adams Morgan location, we enroll about 31 children ages 2 months to 5 years old. At Georgia-Petworth location, we enroll 79 children of the same ages.

How much is tuition?

Tuition is weekly and includes all meals. Parents are required to pay each Friday for the following week. All payments must be made by check, cash or money order.

We also accept vouchers from D.C.’s Child Care Subsidy Program.

What do I do after my child is admitted?

Once your child has been accepted, you will be required to fill out additional forms, which must be handed in by your child’s first day.

We also request that you and your child come into the Center at least twice before he/she matriculates. These 45-minute sessions are designed to help teachers and parents get to know one another and understand the child’s routines, health concerns, family beliefs, family values, feeding and napping schedules, and any other questions either party may have.

What do I bring on the first day?

We ask that parents bring daily sufficient supplies of the following:

  • Bottles with formula or breast milk with both the child’s name and date (this includes frozen milk)

  • Diapers (at least six per day) and wipes

  • Extra clothing depending on the season

  • A sheet and a blanket

  • Any other supplies such as diaper rash medicine, bibs, etc.

Is the program entirely in Spanish?

Yes, we are 100 percent Spanish speaking in an effort to help your child learn the language, grammar and culture.

How much can parents participate?

As much as they want! We are dedicated to sharing your child’s learning program with you, and encourage all parents to participate in programs, including reading to their children, helping to feed, helping with an art activity and more.

In addition to a handful of parent-teach meetings that we require parents to attend throughout the year, we offer several events especially geared toward parent participation, including a multicultural potluck and birthday celebrations.

If you’d like to visit the Center during the day, you are more than welcome anytime.

Please call ahead to let us know you are coming.

When are you closed?

Please check here for a list of our holidays.Check here for closings and inclement weather procedures.

What types of meals do you serve?

We serve three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and a snack. All our meals are made fresh onsite. We believe that good nutrition is essential for good health and optimal development. A weekly menu is given to parents on Monday mornings.

Please notify the Center if your child has a food allergy. If your child has specific food preferences (for example, no meat or soy milk instead of regular milk), parents are required to provide a substitute.

What types of activities will my child participate in?

Please check here to find out more about our curriculum as well as a description of the types of activities we offer.

Can I send someone else to pick up my child if I am stuck at work?

Parents are responsible for informing the Center well in advance of any changes to the pick-up form and give the name of any new person authorized to pick up their child. This person must be 18 years of age and provide valid ID upon arriving at the Center.

Do the Center’s teachers ever babysit?

In an effort to maintain the professional status of the Center’s faculty and to prevent any potential conflict of interest, we strongly discourage babysitting by any of our teachers. However, if you choose to ask for a staff member to babysit, the service must be outside the Center premises and with the understanding that such arrangement and payment for services are solely between the child’s family and the staff member.
